New reports

A major report from the World Bank

The World Bank has published a major report on Basic Income: Exploring Universal Basic Income: A guide to navigating concepts, evidence, and practices. 'Universal basic income (UBI) is emerging as one of the most hotly debated issues in development and social protection policy. But what are the features of UBI? What is it meant to achieve? How do we know, and what don’t we know, about its performance? What does it take to implement it in practice? ...'

The Stanford UBI Lab has published an overview report of reviews of Basic Income; Karl Widerquist and Georg Arndt have published a simulation of a particular Basic Income scheme for the UK; the New Yorker has published an article about the results of an experiment in Stockton, USA; and Marie Claire has published an article about an experiment in Jackson, also in the US.

The UN Secretary General

During the annual Nelson Mandela Lecture on the 18th July the UN Secretary General said that 'a changing world requires a new generation of social protection policies with new safety nets including Universal Health Coverage and the possibility of a Universal Basic Income'.
