September 2021 Newsletter

With the federal election just a few weeks away, now is the perfect time to make your voice heard and advocate for Basic Income.

With that in mind, Basic Income Now is organising a March for Basic Income on September 18th, two days before the election, in Toronto. If you can make it to Toronto for the afternoon, head down to Nathan Phillips Square (city hall) between 1-2 pm to join the march. There you'll get basic income signs and you will begin a walk up through Yonge-Dundas, finishing in Yorkville.

You can find out more about the march here, and if you want additional resources such as graphics that you can turn into signs, you can find those here.

Advocacy Week - November 15th to 19th

Are you interested in becoming an advocate for Basic Income in your community?  There are 124 electoral districts in Ontario, and we want advocates in each of these districts to advocate with their MPPs to help make Basic Income a reality.  We can offer you the opportunity to get involved in Advocacy Week, by meeting with you your MPP or other MPPs.  We offer training and support.  For example, we hosted a workshop on Talking to Politicians about Basic Income, which is available here.

If you want to get involved or learn more, please contact Caterina Lindman at [email protected].

C-Team Elections

A small note from OBIN, elections for the new C-Team, and subsequently the AGM, have been deferred as a result of the federal election. We will update you further when a new date for C-Team elections is decided.
Have a fantastic long weekend and start to fall.
